"CHARACTER EDUCATION THROUGH WILDERNESS EXPERIENCES"

Voyage To Excellence AlaskaGOAL STATEMENT:
To foster leadership skills and team building amongst students through experiential educational opportunities in unique environments.

OBJECTIVES:
Phases will focus on Character Education, Individual Needs and will also align with:
• Chugach Personal/Social/Health Standard Areas
• Chugach Standard Areas (Science, Social Studies, writing, Cultural Awareness, etc.)

EACH PHASE WILL INCLUDE:
• Character Education strands
• Content area strands

- First Aide
- Bear awareness
- Environmental awareness

BENCHMARKING:
The program will be benchmarked using the Best Of the Best process.

SPRING ADVENTURE PHASE

Where: kayaking Blackstone Bay, Prince William sound.

Anchorage Voyage To ExcellenceWhat: Instruction and assessment
• Character Content - Leadership, peer mediation
• Content strand - science (glaciers and glaciation) and writing
• Capillaries - cold water safety, leave no trace and outdoor ethics

STUDENT QUALIFICATIONS
• Developing at P/S/H level 6 and up
• Ages 14 and up
• Teacher recommendation based on leadership potential
